Whoa We’re Halfway There
Are we really already halfway through the college football season? It seems like the season just started last week! One thing has been certain though; and that’s that this college football season has been anything other than ordinary. It makes me excited to see the first poll from the selection committee in a few weeks! But before that, let’s see exactly how last week treated us.
Sarah 11-2 (38-27) *didn’t have guest picker week 1
Garret 11-2 (63-16)
Daniel 9-4 (62-17)
Katie 6-7 (58-21)
Molly 0-0 (33-16) *didn’t pick weeks 1 or 6
Our guest picker this week is the newest addition to the SBV Sports Department, Isaiah Wood. “Isaiah Wood is a former Marine, an aircraft engine mechanic by trade, and a low-rent philosopher on the weekends. Nicotine, caffeine, and Falcons football compete to see what will do him in first.” Y’all make sure to give him a good ol SBV welcome. P.S. Molly and I are also really happy about this because it means that Georgia outnumbers Florida in fandom 3-1 in the department. 🙂
Anyways, this week’s games that we’re picking are
#3 TCU @ Iowa St
#4 Utah vs Arizona St
#5 Clemson v Boston College
#6 LSU v #8 Florida
#7 Michigan St @ #12 Michigan
#9 Texas A&M v #10 Alabama
Mercer v ETSU
#3 TCU @ Iowa St F- it. Same as above. Same reasons. Iowa State.
#4 Utah vs Arizona St Can I just pick the underdog for each of them? I basically want everyone above Georgia to lose.
#5 Clemson v Boston College I don’t think I can pick against Clemson here, so Clemson.
#6 LSU v #8 Florida Let’s see…Florida is in the East, same as Georgia, and LSU is in the West-not like Georgia. So LSU.
#7 Michigan St @ #12 Michigan Neither one of these are doing it for me. Can we just call it a tie? Fine. Michigan.
#9 Texas A&M v #10 Alabama Alabama. Because it’ll make Georgia look better.
Mercer v ETSU Mercer, once again your season will restore my faith in my teams.
#3 TCU @ Iowa St
#4 Utah vs Arizona St
#5 Clemson v Boston College
#6 LSU v #8 Florida I don’t think Florida will have an answer for Fournette.
#7 Michigan St @ #12 Michigan One of the biggest rivalries in college football. The Big House. The crowd. I think that this will be a hard fought battle until the very end and Michigan pulls it out……barely.
#9 Texas A&M v #10 Alabama I was on the Aggie bandwagon this week until I got to thinking about it. Yeah, A&M is doing really well this year, but does Kevin Sumlin really have an answer for what is looking like another dominant Alabama team? I think not. Plus, add in the sign that the A&M fraternity hung on their house, and I think that adds even more fuel to the fire for Bama just to wax A&M like they did last year.
Mercer v ETSU
Texas- bye week
#3 TCU @ Iowa St
#4 Utah vs Arizona St
#5 Clemson v Boston College
#6 LSU v #8 Florida
#7 Michigan St @ #12 Michigan
#9 Texas A&M v #10 Alabama
Mercer v ETSU
Texas- bye week
#3 TCU @ Iowa St
#4 Utah vs Arizona St
#5 Clemson v Boston College
#6 LSU v #8 Florida
#7 Michigan St @ #12 Michigan
#9 Texas A&M v #10 Alabama
Mercer v ETSU
#3 TCU @ Iowa St Final Score: 35-32
#4 Utah vs Arizona St Final Score: 38-28
#5 Clemson v Boston College Final Score: 42-17 Clemson. Pfft, what bachelor programs do they offer other than Tree Management? I don’t really know or care either, but man oh man, I bet Dabo was one happy camper when he got word of Spurrier’s retirement.
#6 LSU v #8 Florida Final score: 16-9 Ugh. ‘Stadium Fire’ is currently listed at 13/2 odds. Bet that instead.
#7 Michigan St @ #12 Michigan Final score: 46-29. Jim Harbaugh and his roid rage pleated khakis can go jump in Lake Huron for all I care. Cue the defenders. “He only yells and throws things and acts like an abusive Lifetime movie husband because he’s so passionate you guys!”
#9 Texas A&M v #10 Alabama Final score: 27-24 My mom would give the Disappointed Mother look if I picked against Alabama. So roll damn tide…or whatever.
Mercer v ETSU Final score: 58-24. In all honesty, I’d be alright if I was way off the mark about this. ETSU seems like that kind of underdog school that says “why not” and runs 30 trick plays and 3 fake field goals a game. That is always worth rooting for.
USC over Notre Dame 38-36
UCLA over Stanford 32-21
FSU over Louisville 27-12
ND State over South Dakota Final Score: 31-7 The race for the Missouri Valley Conference crown is North Dakota State’s to lose. I have a soft spot for the Middle of Nowhere Fightin Bisons. Bring it on in for the win, fellas.
