Rivalry Saturday
I’m not even sure how to start this post out. I’m sitting here writing this out while watching the Texas/Washington basketball game. (sidenote: Bill Walton shouldn’t be a commentator. Just no). Football season is coming to close and the playoffs are starting to shape up. This weekend also starts the majority of rivalry games, which I absolutely love and which will definitely decide which teams are in and out for the playoffs. I honestly think that we’ll see a team from every power 5 conference, except for the Big 12, in the final four. The committee has a new poll out and their top 4 for this week are
#1 Clemson
#2 Alabama
#3 Ohio State
#4 Notre Dame
Here’s how we fared last week.
Daniel 11-4 (98-28)
Katie 11-4 (95-31)
Molly 10-5 (48-26)
Isaiah 9-6 (78-43)
Garret 8-7 (93-33)
The games this week
#1 Clemson @ Syracuse
#2 Ohio St @ Illinois
#3 Alabama @ #20 Mississippi St
#4 Baylor v #12 Oklahoma
#5 Oklahoma St @ Iowa St
#6 Notre Dame v Wake Forest
#7 Stanford v Oregon
#8 Iowa v Minnesota
#9 LSU v Arkansas
#10 Utah @ Arizona
Georgia @ Auburn
Texas @ West Virginia
Mercer @ Furman
#11 Florida @ South Carolina
Molly’s Picks
Not picking this week
Katie’s Picks
#1 Clemson @ Syracuse
#2 Ohio St @ Illinois
#3 Alabama @ #20 Mississippi St
#4 Baylor v #12 Oklahoma I think that OU’s defense is going to be able to shut down Baylor’s offense
#5 Oklahoma St @ Iowa St
#6 Notre Dame v Wake Forest If this was basketball, I’d give Wake Forest a chance…but football, nope.
#7 Stanford v Oregon
#8 Iowa v Minnesota
#9 LSU v Arkansas
#10 Utah @ Arizona
Georgia @ Auburn I hope the Dawgs show up today. They need this win. Richt needs this win. And no Georgia fan wants a repeat of the 2013 game. But every Georgia fan does want to have the winning record in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.
Texas @ West Virginia Texas HAS to show up and win today and then win again on Thanksgiving to become bowl eligible. Because to be honest, with how immature (they are) and Jekyll & Hyde this team is, I don’t think they beat Baylor on Dec 5.
Mercer @ Furman
#11 Florida @ South Carolina I will never pick Florida. Ever.
Garret’s Picks
#1 Clemson @ Syracuse
#2 Ohio St @ Illinois
#3 Alabama @ #20 Mississippi St
#4 Baylor v #12 Oklahoma
#5 Oklahoma St @ Iowa St
#6 Notre Dame v Wake Forest
#7 Stanford v Oregon
#8 Iowa v Minnesota
#9 LSU v Arkansas
#10 Utah @ Arizona
Georgia @ Auburn
Texas @ West Virginia
Mercer @ Furman
#11 Florida @ South Carolina
Daniel’s Picks
#1 Clemson @ Syracuse
#2 Ohio St @ Illinois
#3 Alabama @ #20 Mississippi St
#4 Baylor v #12 Oklahoma
#5 Oklahoma St @ Iowa St
#6 Notre Dame v Wake Forest
#7 Stanford v Oregon
#8 Iowa v Minnesota
#9 LSU v Arkansas
#10 Utah @ Arizona
Georgia @ Auburn
Texas @ West Virginia
Mercer @ Furman
#11 Florida @ South Carolina
Isaiah’s Picks
#1 Clemson @ Syracuse Dabo and THE Clemson Tigers knocked the heart-attack faker and his seemingly endless supply of quarterbacks off of the top of the hill. Suck an egg, Buckeyes and attaboy, Tigers.
#2 Ohio St @ Illinois Cardale. Dude. Sober up and drive down to Georgia. We need a decent quarterback. We are currently considering starting one of those wacky inflatable dancing things we signed from a used car lot.
#3 Alabama @ #20 Mississippi St If Alabama is able to shut down Leonard Fournette (fun fact: Autocorrect just redubbed him Leonard Furniture) like they did last weekend, then they are now the team to beat in my opinion.
#4 Baylor v #12 Oklahoma
#5 Oklahoma St @ Iowa St That’ll be two tickets to Upset City, please and thank you. If Wake Forest was even marginally worth a damn, there’d have been a third ticket purchased.
#6 Notre Dame v Wake Forest
#7 Stanford v Oregon
#8 Iowa v Minnesota
#9 LSU v Arkansas
#10 Utah @ Arizona
Georgia @ Auburn Between the Braves, Bulldogs, and Falcons it seems the complete collapse of Georgia sports is well underway. The Hawks are our last hope and I have the sinking feeling that as I write this Kyle Korver just found out he had ebola moments after sharing a Gatorade with Kenny Bazemore. Anyway. Auburn will win and it will burn us up but then Mark Richt will lead his boys to victory over Southern and secure a spot in the Nabisco Bowl and all will be forgiven. Again
Texas @ West Virginia
Mercer @ Furman
#11 Florida @ South Carolina Gah. I hope Alabama just annihilates Florida when they inevitably meet in the SEC title game. And then follows them out in the parking lot and insults their shoes and their girlfriends’ purses. And then follows them home and insults their mothers’ cooking. And that Vern and Gary keep us posted all throughout. When you realize that this was supposed to be Georgia’s year, just remember: somehow, this is all Mark Richt’s fault.
